StarChild Academy’s strong academic curriculum includes: phonics-based reading and writing including the Open Court, A Beka, and High Reach Cuddle Bugs programs; math including the Saxon Math program; science; social studies; computer instruction, PE classes, foreign languages including Spanish, Italian, and American Sign Language; arts & crafts; and, music. StarChild Academy – Lake Mary offers additional extra-curricular activities including: dance, fun bus gymnastics, soccer, keyboard piano lessons, Play Ball, and Little Linksters Golf.

StarChild Academy’s school-age program includes before-school care, after-school care, and programs during school breaks and holidays. Our program includes transportation to and from local public schools, nutritious after-school snacks, homework club in a quiet area, planned arts & crafts, video games, computers, and large shaded playgrounds with sports. JANUARY CURRICULUM

¨ Martin Luther King will be remembered on Monday, January 16th in each classroom.

¨ Our Fourth Annual Bike Day is on Friday, January 20th from 9:00a.m. to 12:00a.m. and will improve our students understanding of bicycle safety and operation. Please bring your child’s bike and helmet. The parking area next to the basketball court, will be blocked off for biking. Parents will park in the outer spaces, staff will park across the street at the Church. Parents are invited!

¨ Literacy Week is from January 23rd to 27th. We will have a book fair with readings and children’s books for sale. Jr. Pre-K and Pre-K classes will be performing songs, poems, and plays. On Monday, Jan. 23rd it is . Dress as your favorite character day!’ We will judge for the best costume.

FOOD DRIVE

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our three food drives in December. The first was for Idyllwilde Elementary where we were able to help a family by providing a family of three with clothes, toys and provide food for the School Pantry! The second was for Lake Mary Police/Fire/Emergency.

The third was for Second Harvest Food Bank in which we contributed over 4,000 pounds of food which represented over 1,500 pounds more than last year! Thanks to all the Pre-K and Jr. Pre-K classes for their contributions! A special congratulations to the Pre-K C class for the largest contribution which won them a field trip to Wesh2 TV Headquarters where the six StarChild academy Schools in Central Florida collectively donated over 30,000 pounds of food to Second Harvest Food Bank (triple last year’s contributions!). Jr Pre-K D had the largest collection for their age group which won them a field trip to Menchies including lunch!

Thanks you to all parents and staff for all your contributions to these very important causes for Central Florida families in need.
